Some recent garb

My official time-period is 12th century Norman, but I haven’t found the clothing very flattering for my figure.  As a result, I haven’t focused very deeply on making more.

Below are some recent garb projects.

Mike’s Entari, finished.  This was made for my friend’s elevation; her husband wanted to be dressed in her time period.

Linen chiton, created for a themed event.

Woman with dog. I’m testing my Ottoman clothing plan (top layer was made by Mistress Brygyd D’Arcy and headwear was purchased). The pink scarf was at hand for the pic, but I used a plaque belt instead.

Myself and Mistress Kale moments after her elevation. (Shortly after the photo, I learned I was wearing the head scarf incorrectly; it should be over the hat, not under.)

Past Silk Painting projects

I’ve been playing with silk painting for a few years now.  I took an Art/Sci class, and created a pennon for our tourney champion.

Then, I worked on  a Kingdom project with some super-talented artisans.  Mostly I was the “fill” to their Microsoft Paint… they did the designing and most of the gutta (resist outlining).  I just added paint where they pointed.

Below are a few of my solo projects.

Created for the heavy and rapier champions of Trimaris Tournament of Champions (2015).  The “cartoon” has been sketched (traced) onto the silk and the silk is stretched on my frame

Gutta (resist outline) has been applied.

“Final” before heat setting the paint. I chose opposite color schemes based on the blobbiness of my gutta application.

Created for the elevation of my friend, Mistress Kale Adriane. The Pelican background and triskele is a cobalt blue, and the fly is black. Hard to see the difference in this light.

Hubby’s pennon, finished. I almost forgot to take a pic before taking it off the frame.

My pennon on the frame

My pennon, fluttering prettily. Below is the Barony of Marcaster’s pennon (I didn’t create that one, but was Baroness at the time the pic was taken).

Blog Reboot

Because, well, the whole write-about-my-food-angst-and-itchy-hives thing was not getting done.  (Hives are completely gone under-control, BTW)

Instead, I’m going to focus on creative projects.  I’ve been working on a bunch of stuff for different people, and I never seem to remember to take pictures, etc.  A friend of mine recently updated her blog and it reminded me that I could use mine similarly.  Like a journal of what I’ve done, and learned while doing it.

Hopefully, because it’s stuff I like doing, I’ll update more often.  We’ll see.
